It is almost guaranteed that every student has heard something like the following: “Well, I don’t like giving grades, but I have to.”
While this idea may be distributed by countless professors every year, it is rare that a student will hear a statement along the lines of: “There’s something wrong with the way we view grading, and here is how we can start to fix it.”
Pathways: A decade of providing services to students
Pathways Peer Advocacy Program is a talk line for students to anonymously express themselves and describe their own problems in the comfort of a safe, supportive place. This year, the Pathways organization is celebrating ten years of its service on campus, a huge milestone and point of reflection for the program.

The L.I.V.E.S. Program
The L.I.V.E.S, or Learning Independent Vocational & Educational Skills, is a college preparatory program for students who have developmental and/or intellectual disabilities here at SUNY Geneseo. As the name suggests, students learn various critical skills for college life and beyond, including social and monetary skills. They also engage with other subjects, such as math and science. The main goal of this program is to help its students succeed in life.

Undeclared major sophomore Jeremy Sauer is musically talented and curious about the world. Just a sophomore in college, he devotes his career to music production, as he has done since 2018. Sauer has already published several albums that have been played on five continents and is a cellist.

There are many types of people who attend Geneseo; some students are more reserved while others are more outgoing. Political Science major sophomore Dom Petrucci is outgoing and has the reputation now of barking at students. Yes, barking. Petrucci explained via an email interview why he began barking, the tone he uses to bark and students’ responses.

Study Abroad
Participating in study abroad is an opportunity that many Geneseo students hope to embark upon during their time at school. Unfortunately, though, the pandemic put a halt to this travel experience.
