Nothing new— New York Giants suck

The New York Giants are like the kid who shows up to the school dance, takes one look around, and says, 'Nah, I’m good,' then spends the next decade standing in the corner making bad decisions.

The New York Giants are horrible. For the last decade of my life, I have had to watch this “professional” team make poor decisions after poor decisions and pretend that I was having fun. Today is the day I finally rant about the New York Giants for about 500 words.

Where do I even begin? The Giants made the playoffs in the 2016 National Football League (NFL) season and were destroyed by the Green Bay Packers. To combat this, the Giants didn’t do anything. The Giants watched all three of their division rivals make the playoffs in three years and thought they might as well be the ass of the division for the next nine years.

Here's a little trivia question. There have been three teams in the National Football Conference (NFC) East to win the division since 2011. Which team is the only one that hasn’t won in that span? If you guessed the Dallas Cowboys, I wouldn’t blame you, but you’d still be wrong because the correct answer was the Giants. The Giants watch their fiercest rivals succeed and couldn’t care less about it.

But this is all fine and dandy, right? All teams have to go through a rebuilding stage at some point. Sure, but those rebuilding stages aren’t typically a decade long. Shout-out to Dave Gettleman for pushing the Giants back 30 years. This man drafted Erik Flowers, Evan Engram, Kadarius Toney, and Daniel Jones in the first round across six years, and not a single one of those players is on the Giants at this point. I mean, how is that possible?

Things were looking up for the Giants despite their preposterous draft picks. The Giants shocked the NFL by making the playoffs in 2022 with possibly the worst playoff roster to date. Even more shockingly, the Giants beat the Minnesota Vikings 13-4 during an away game. Wow— a team with the coach of the year and a roster with room for improvement, despite a playoff win. The Giants must have gone “all in” during that offseason to maximize their Super Bowl possibilities, right?

If you're following how this article has been going so far, you’ve probably already figured out that the Giants did not do the logical thing in this situation. The Giants signed mediocre offensive linemen and an aging Daren Waller, who was more focused on his music career. Best of all, Daniel Jones was signed to be the worst contract your two eyes have ever seen in sports history. The Giants won six games the following year and three games the year after, that leads us to today.

The Giants own the third pick in the NFL draft this April. The “Daniel Jones experiment” is over, and they need a new quarterback to push forward in this process. In true Giants fashion, the team recently signed 31-year-old Jameis Winston to a two-year deal. Jameis Winston threw 40 picks for the New York Giants. The Giants went 4-13 and lived happily ever after!
