Huge NFL trades last week as trade deadline looms

On Tuesday, Oct. 15, two of the league's most recognizable receivers were traded. Former Las Vegas Raiders receiver Davante Adams was traded to the New York Jets, and former Cleveland Browns Receiver was traded to the Buffalo Bills. These names went from two of the worst teams in the NFL to true AFC East competitors on the same day. These deals took place exactly three weeks before the NFL trade deadline, so what does this mean for both teams, and what other possible moves might occur before the Nov. 5 trade deadline?

NHL Global Series: Devils sweep Sabres in Prague

To open the 2024-25 National Hockey League (NHL) season, the New Jersey Devils and the Buffalo Sabres traveled to Prague, Czechia, on Friday, Oct. 4, and Saturday, Oct. 5, to face off on a global stage. The 2024 Global Series marks 11 seasons that the NHL has traveled to Europe to play regular-season games. These types of games allow European fans to experience the excitement and electricity of an NHL game and cheer on their favorite teams beyond a television broadcast. I bet, however, that the Sabres fans in Europe were less than pleased with Buffalo's performance in these historic games. The Devils swept the Sabres in this series, winning 4-1 on Friday and 3-1 on Saturday.

National Football League injuries are killing fantasy football teams

Fantasy Football is one of the unique ways football fans make every Sunday matter. For those of you who may not be familiar, fantasy football is when a handful of people—usually ranging from eight to 12—conduct a draft of actual National Football League (NFL) quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers, tight ends, kickers, and team defenses during the summer before the season starts. Each team has a certain amount of starters and bench spots, replicating how actual NFL rosters are designed.

The Pac-12 is not dead yet

In late 2023, the Pacific-12 (PAC) conference seemingly closed its doors. The University of Southern California (USC) Trojans, the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) Bruins, and the Oregon Ducks all departed the conference for “the Big Ten,” the University of California Golden Bears and Stanford Cardinals left for the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), and the Arizona Wildcats, Arizona State Sun Devils, Colorado Buffaloes, and Utah Utes left for the Big-12. The only teams that remained after the exit of 10 of the 12 teams were the Oregon State Beavers and the Washington State Cougars. The Beavers and Cougars were set up to run as a two-team conference, however, the Pac-12 decided to add some reinforcements. On Wednesday, Sept. 17, the Pac-12 officially added four more teams into the running. These teams include the San Diego State Aztecs, the Fresno State Bulldogs, the Colorado State Rams, and the Boise State Broncos. After 108 years of tradition, the Pac-12 is not done just yet.
