You heard it here first: The Chiefs will win again

On this Sunday, Feb. 11, over 130 nations will tune in for the biggest event in American sports: the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs will be squaring off in Super Bowl LVII for a highly anticipated matchup. State Farm Stadium in Arizona will be the home for this battle, and where the new NFL champions will be named.

Sadly, the “experts” in Las Vegas have their predictions wrong, as they believe the Eagles are going to win. Their regular season record is very hard to argue with, and they spent the first several weeks undefeated; however, the Chiefs had the exact same record, and have proven to be one of the best teams in football the past few years.

At the helm of their franchise is Patrick Mahomes, who just may prove himself to be the next greatest quarterback. With a Super Bowl win and MVP already under his belt, this game will not prove to be an unfamiliar task. With All-Pro tight end Travis Kelce always prepared to dominate a defense, Mahomes can simply lob the ball up in the air with nothing but confidence.

The main issue that plagues the Chiefs is the health of Mahomes. During the AFC Championship, he suffered a high ankle sprain which kept him out for a handful of plays. While he did return to finish out the game, his gait was off, leading people to believe he may be worsening his condition. The training staff has given him the green light, and Mahomes said he is ready to “lay it all on the line” for the Super Bowl.

A healthy Chiefs team can and will beat any opponent they are up against. The Eagles had one of the easiest schedules in the NFL, and still managed to lose four games. On paper, they absolutely cruised past the 49ers in the NFC Championship, but paper can be deceiving. Their quarterback, Brock Purdy, went down with an injury early and essentially handed Philadelphia a plane ticket to Arizona. The 49ers are not to blame, but people should not be impressed that the Eagles are back in the Super Bowl.

It seems extremely unlikely that the Chiefs will blow it, but anything is possible. Fellow sportswriter, Dylan Dariano, weighed in on the topic, and his prediction is as follows: 37-31 in favor of the Kansas City Chiefs. That is an awfully high-scoring affair he is predicting, but at least he picked the right team. 28-20 seems to be a much more appropriate score given the defensive ability from both teams. In an even bolder statement, Dylan predicted the Super Bowl MVP to be Isiah Pacheco, the rookie running back for the Chiefs. While it would be such a heartwarming story for there to be the first rookie Super Bowl MVP, it seems unlikely that Patrick Mahomes won’t win it yet again.

It is worth noting that Dylan’s prediction credibility is spotty, at best. Throughout the regular season, he and I both predicted the winners for over 100 games. To no surprise, he failed to emerge victorious against me, the self-proclaimed “Prediction King.” Sunday is bound to be an exciting game, but for the second time in four years, the Kansas City Chiefs will raise the Lombardi Trophy.
