Frugal Foodie: Banana bread

If you’re anything like me, you probably have overripe bananas sitting on your kitchen counter. Instead of throwing them out, try making some banana bread! Here is a recipe for banana bread that will save your brown bananas from going to waste.

Ingredients:

- 2 to 3 very ripe bananas, peeled

- ⅓ cup of melted butter, salted or unsalted

- ½ teaspoon of baking soda (don’t use powder!)

- A pinch of salt

- ¾ cups of sugar

- 1 large egg, beaten

- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

- 1 ½ cups of all-purpose flour

Directions:

Step 1: Preheat the oven to 350℉. Then, line a 8x4 loaf tin with butter.

Step 2: In a medium mixing bowl, mash bananas to preferred consistency. Add in melted butter and mix.

Step 3:  Mix in sugar, baking soda, vanilla extract, and egg until well blended. Then add in the flour and mix.

Step 4: Pour batter into buttered tin. Bake for 55 to 65 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean when inserted. Let the pan cool for a few minutes, then slice and serve.

Step 5: Enjoy!
