Valentine’s Day is the perfect opportunity to celebrate love for romantic partners, but not everyone has a romantic partner. Whether this is by choice or coincidence, it is no reason to skip an opportunity to celebrate love!

Galentine’s Day is a holiday that is traditionally celebrated the day before Valentine’s Day. It is a day to celebrate female friendships or any close bonds that you may have in your life. This holiday is perfect for college students because it can be easily celebrated on a budget. As always, here are a few cheap craft ideas to do with the close friends in your life!

Quite possibly, the easiest craft is something we all did in elementary school: coloring! Take advantage of the free printing on campus and print some blank coloring sheets online. Endless websites have free downloadable PDF coloring sheets that can be found with a quick Google search.

One of my personal favorite crafts is making something completely customizable with clay. Polymer and air dry clay can be easily found in places like Walmart and can be used to make anything! While clay tools do exist, they are not necessary to create simple and small things such as pinch pots.

Using clay, you can create sculptures of your close friends you are celebrating with or even sculptures of your pet. Another great idea is making fridge magnets out of clay— they can be completely one-of-a-kind.

Bracelet making is a classic craft to do with friends. You can spell out words, incorporate vibrant colors, or make matching ones with your besties. Beads and string are relatively cheap and can be easily found in craft stores and shared with friends.

While the snow is still around, feel free to take advantage and make snowwomen. You can decorate her with clothes you already have or take a trip to the local Goodwill. Sticks and rocks can be found anywhere (and are completely free).

Baking is a great way to bond with friends and results in a sweet treat. It can be something as simple as pre-made and cut cookie dough to pop into the oven, or you could go crazy and bake a whole cake from scratch.

If you are someone who can easily pick up a craft, these next few options are perfect for you. Crocheting with friends is joyous, especially if you all choose to do the same project. Matching hats for the winter, scarves, book covers, and headbands are all very easy to make. Crocheting as a group allows people to help each other out when they get stuck and work through the process of collectively picking up or improving on a craft.

Alongside crocheting is the intimidating craft of sewing. Though many fear this, it is not nearly as hard as people think. Sewing a patch onto a shirt or bag can be learned and completed within the hour, leaving you with a unique, personalized item in your wardrobe.

While Galentine’s Day implies that it is an all-female holiday, it does not have to be! All types of platonic relationships can be celebrated on this day, regardless of gender. Try out these crafts with any and all friends to celebrate Galentine’s day!
