Frugal Foodie: Quick and easy mashed sweet potatoes

These mashed sweet potatoes make the perfect side dish for any meal or even a main course!

Mashed potatoes are often a fan favorite but can be boring when prepared the same way every single time. Try this simple mashed sweet potato recipe if you are looking for your favorite comfort food with a twist. With just five ingredients, this recipe is perfect for college students who are still learning how to cook for themselves. 


Ingredients:

-3 sweet potatoes

-¼ cup of butter 

-1 clove minced garlic

-½ teaspoon dried basil 

-¼ teaspoon dried thyme 

Directions: 

Step 1: Peel and cut the sweet potatoes into approximately 2-inch pieces. Place in a large pot of salted water and bring to a boil. 

Step 2: Reduce the heat to medium and simmer until the potatoes are tender (approximately 20 minutes). Drain the potatoes and transfer them to a large bowl. 

Step 3: With a potato masher or similar kitchen utensil, combine the potatoes with all of the seasonings. Mash until the potatoes are to the desired consistency. 

Step 4: Enjoy by yourself or with friends!
