Geneseo Equestrian team sends riders to IHSA Regionals

The Geneseo Equestrian team has begun their 2022-2023 season in impressive fashion yet again. Led by longtime coach Kim Sanford, each of their first four shows this year have resulted in a top five finish for the Knights and multiple riders qualifying for the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association Regionals in early April. With more than half of the season to go, Geneseo looks to finish strong after their previous performances.

Bills fall to 6-2 in divisional matchup loss to the Jets

The Bills came into week nine of the football season on a hot streak after winning four consecutive games. The team looked to face the New York Jets, who Buffalo has dominated over the past few seasons, beating them in each of their previous four matchups. However, this is not a typical Jets team—they are one of the biggest surprises of the 2022 season and sat at 5-3, previously holding a four-game winning streak of their own.

Texans remain worst-standing team in NFL after yet another loss

As the 2022 National Football League season reaches the halfway point, many teams are showing just how good (or bad) they are. The Eagles are undefeated, and the Bills are continuing to impress. And on the other side of the spectrum is the Houston Texans, the worst team in the NFL. At 1-6-1, the Texans seem to do nothing right, and are yet again disappointing their somehow devoted fans.

Men’s Rugby dominates Buff State, LeMoyne to clinch conference championship

Last fall, the Men’s Rugby Team played an undefeated regular season and traveled to Boston for the regional championships, where their run came to an unfortunate end after a loss to Holy Cross University. This year, the Warthogs have been hard at work to ensure that that doesn’t happen again—and they’re off to a great start. On Saturday, Oct. 15, the Hogs confirmed their second undefeated regular season in a row after a victory over Niagara University by forfeit. This season, however, came with a few newly added obstacles before the Hogs can get back to Boston. After the regular season, the Warthogs had to compete in conference playoffs before winning the conference, which means they would have to extend their undefeated streak by another two games against Buffalo State and LeMoyne College.

Buffalo sends Green Bay packing as Bills move to 6-1

Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills came off of their bye in week eight of the NFL season to dominate Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers at home on Sunday Night Football on Oct. 30. The team came into the game sitting at 5-1, just having come off of a huge win against their newfound rival Kansas City Chiefs before their bye week. Green Bay, however, had lost three games in a row and looked like a shell of the powerhouse they had been over the past few seasons. Starting tackle Spencer Brown was the only notable inactive player for the Bills in this game.

Major upheaval should be in the cards for Yankees this offseason

The New York Yankees have been a franchise built on success since their very first World Series victory in 1923. The team has won 27 championships, the most of any professional sports franchise, but over the past decade the team has seen nothing but mediocrity and failed expectations. As a die-hard Yankees fan, I am tired of spending my spring and summer months getting excited for the playoffs as the team performs to or even exceeds expectations every regular season. I am sick of having my hopes crushed as the team is sent home early in the playoffs every year and looking towards the next season even though nothing ever changes. This season was the breaking point, and a new era of Yankees baseball needs to start immediately.

Arsenal set to recapture their glory days with vintage win Tottenham

In previous seasons, the words “Arsenal” and “relegation” have been used unironically in the same sentence. During Unai Emery’s unfortunate spell as manager, Arsenal became synonymous with lengthy injury lists and disappointing results, and it became difficult to see the Gunners competing for a spot in the top four of the Premier League. Despite a rocky recent history, manager Mikel Arteta has led Arsenal two points clear of Premier League Champions Manchester City at the top of the table and are looking more like the 2003-04 Invincibles than they ever have.

The battle of Tom vs Time is coming to an end

In the sixth round of the 2000 NFL draft, the New England Patriots took a gamble on a quarterback from Michigan. Nobody could have predicted what he would become, not even himself. It is quite rare that such a late draft pick turns out to be a superstar, or even a starter, but Tom Brady was the exception.

Injury facing Dolphins’ quarterback leads to CTE concerns

On Sept. 25, Miami Dolphins’ quarterback Tua Tagovailoa suffered one of the scariest injuries in football history in a game against the Bills. While being tackled, his head snapped back and bounced off the unforgiving turf. After struggling to stand up, he took six uneasy steps before nearly crumbling back to the ground, if not for his teammates who held him up. Tagovailoa would return later that game and lead the Dolphins to a 21-19 victory over Buffalo.

The Bills were coming off of a dominant showcase against the Steelers, while the 4-1 Chiefs looked to keep rolling after their close win over the Raiders. Notable Bills’ inactives for the game included wide receiver Jake Kumerow (ankle), and multiple healthy scratches highlighted by running back Zach Moss.
