Hay Day continues to be the best game on the App Store

The app Hay Day is a popular game among many, but few, truly, take this game seriously. This game is available on the App Store right now and will continue to be one of the best as it continues to get better through every update. The game has been around for years, and I have had the app since December 2013. I have spent 11 years enjoying the calming yet exciting features that the game has to offer.

For those who don’t know, the game entails owning and operating a small local farm. You raise a variety of farm animals, harvest crops, fulfill boat and truck orders, and own pets—to name just a few aspects of this endless list of fun activities. There are goals and challenges to complete weekly and other fun opportunities which, in turn, allows you to earn supplies in order to help upgrade your farm. Explaining every aspect this game offers is nearly impossible because your farm can do and produce almost anything.

First off, as the levels go by they do not get increasingly monotonous as is the status quo with other mobile games. Every time you level up you unlock a new aspect of the game; new machines to produce new products, and different crops and/or animals—the list never ends! As you level up your farm physically gets bigger, allowing you more creative freedom with decorations.

The decorations in this game are not to be taken lightly. Decorations can be won for free by completing various tasks and I have never spent a single coin on decorations, yet have hundreds of different knick-knacks in storage to decorate my farm. Seasonal decorations are released multiple times a year as well, as Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, winter, spring, and many other themed decorations can be found during the year.

Having these themed decorations is just one example of how this game stays current. As we approach the upcoming summer months, Hay Day will take this into consideration. New flowers will bloom, funky little summer hats will become available for your animals, and the sun will shine brighter. In a way, these aspects make this game, almost, educational.

This game is suitable for all users, young and old. I started playing when I was around nine years old and I was able to comprehend the game and understand what to do. Over the years I have leveled up, and am currently in the level range of the 60s. A friend’s grandmother, however, makes my farm look brand new. She is on level 180, which is incredibly impressive and accounts for years upon years of having a grand old time playing this game.

Hay Day has the ability to connect to Facebook and the Game Center on Apple devices; this allows you to “friend” other farms on the app. I am friends with countless people on Hay Day that I am friends with in real life, and of course, this includes my friend’s grandma and all of my suitemates on campus.

For those who dislike this game because of rumored inaccuracies and think that the game is too far-fetched, I grew up on a real-life farm back home and can attest that this game is nothing like a real-life farm. Newsflash, though, it's a fake farming game. The game was never claimed to be real-life accurate or a way to discredit farmers, it is just a silly little game that allows you to de-stress after a long day of classes. It is the best game that is available on the App Store right now and you should be playing it too!
