Writer’s Spotlight: S. Brady

Brady is a biology major on the Pre-med track who has been writing for years, while she hasn't been previously published she has been working on a manuscript of poetry for quite some time. For years writing has been an outlet for her, her main inspiration comes from the tales her Grandmother read to her while growing up and the adventures she had throughout her life.

The Walls Know Me Fondly

It’s a comfort to me after all these years

Through my pain, sorrow and fears

The one that knows me most of all

Is my darling bedroom wall

On my floor

Alone I lied

Danced with mirth, screamed a cry

Though I have known many a friend

Treasured and loyal, to the end

Still the one that knows me best

Lays just beyond my heaving chest

The walls of my sanctuary

Seem now more like a mortuary

As now I say goodbye

Hoping for one last lullabye

For now I have grown

Beyond these walls

Now to walk, another’s halls

Goodbye dear room

Goodbye til’ morrow

Goodbye to years of happiness and sorrow

You knew me best,

I must confess

It’s a comfort after all my years

Through my pain, sorrow and fears

Yes, that you knew me above all

Now I say goodbye to my bedroom walls
