Exciting upcoming campus events

As we approach the last couple weeks of the semester, there are some final Geneseo events that you won’t want to miss out on! Here’s what’s on tap:

A favorite event for many on Geneseo’s campus is Spring Fest. As school is closing out, Geneseo is gearing up for a big final event to commemorate another successful academic year. Spring Fest will take place on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at the Saratoga Field and will feature live music from The Driver Era and Sean Kingston. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., but the opening performers won’t take the stage until 7 p.m. that evening. This event is not only open to SUNY Geneseo students, but is available to the wider Geneseo community. Be advised that tickets have sold out for this event, but if you made a ticket purchase online you must pick up the physical ticket from the MacVittie College Union Ticketing Office before Friday, May 3, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. Without a physical ticket, you will not be able to attend the event.

Another event soon approaching is the Professor Recognition Awards. The Academic Affairs Committee (AAC) will be honoring 27 exceptional professors at this event, which is taking place on Thursday, May 2, 2024, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the Doty Recital Hall. In preparation for this event, the AAC sent out surveys to give Geneseo students the opportunity to nominate the professors they believe have had the most powerful impact on their education at Geneseo and the general betterment of the campus environment. Geneseo thanks these professors for their significant and meaningful contributions to enriching the lives of their students and the surrounding community.

That same night, Multicultural Affairs will be hosting a virtual panel discussion with Geneseo alumni focused on Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month. Five different panelists, all with different career backgrounds ranging from medicine to law, will be answering questions and sharing their personal journeys to success in celebration. This virtual event will take place from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 pm on Thursday, May 2, 2024, via Zoom.

Later that week, GennyStock: Battle of the Bands will be taking place on Sunday, May 5, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. in the MacVittie College Union Ballroom. Contestants can perform as a solo, duet, or group and the audience (that’s you!) will vote on which performers deserve the gold! There will be snacks, drinks, and “concert merch”—while supplies last—as stated by the Student Association Committee. Make sure to come out and hear some great music while supporting your fellow Geneseo musicians.

While these are just a few of Geneseo’s upcoming events, you can always be on the lookout, whether through your Geneseo email, organization media posts, or the newspaper (*wink wink*), for additional ways to get involved before school is out for the summer. Additionally, in many cases, clubs are still looking to fill executive board positions for the fall semester, so reach out to any organizations you are interested in getting more involved with for next year and let them know!
